The Perfect Pretext Series
Germans were the first to alert me to Birding along the Russian border as it was used as The Perfect Pretext for spies. Birders watch birds. Spies use birders high-tech optical and audio equipment to spy on people and facilities of interest.
I am a Birder and have seen birding used in espionage, though it is difficult to prove. The real James Bond was a birder, wrote a birdbook, and had his name stolen by the author of the James Bond novels. Fact and Fiction are sometimes hard to separate.
BECCA
The Business Espionage Controls & Countermeasures Association
I founded the Business Espionage Controls & Countermeasures Association (BECCA) with input from many people in the military and the private sector. We stopped charging membership dues the day the Twin Towers fell in New York City. Many of our members back then were on active duty, or in the Reserve and had other things on their minds. Since then several colleges and business training schools have taken over most BECCA functions, all to the good as times change and the world moves on.
BECCA is still a legal non-profit association. The fees are still paid to the State of Washington on time.
